Classified as a realist painter, Brodowski gained education in the years 1844 to 1850 at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts. He was then associated with the group of Martin Olszyński, also gathering W. Gerson, F. Kostrzewski, H. Pillati and J. Szermentowski. Probably since the continuation of the study with battalist B. Willewalde at the Academy of St. Petersburg in the years 1853-1856 dated his passion for the battle scenes.
After returning from a scholarship in Paris, where in the years 1857-1859 he has completed training in the workshop of H. Vernet, Brodowski settled down in his native Warsaw, painting most willingly small images of a genre art and landscapes. Illustrative of this latter trend could be belonging to the first purchases of Raczynski, missing currently landscape from 1880
