The symbolic overtone of the landscape, has been obtained primarily by decorative, almost linearly painted clouds and rippling water. Dabrowa could encounter symbolism as early as during his stay in Paris in the years 1890-92, probably only after moving to Krakow in 1900 was inspired by the paintings of Polish modernists, in particular the work of Stanisławski and Wyspiański. In the decorative nature of the Evening one can find also the impact of eagerly cultivated by Dąbrowa applied arts. The artist worked on designing rugs, posters, illustrations and furniture, as well as murals in the frequently visited places in Kraków, like the pastry in Sukiennice, or the dining room in the Old Theatre. Dąbrowa interest in artwork was originally portrayed in the gallery by six, now missing colored lithographs from 1906, hanging in the room, ie. atelier. Five of them forming a portfolio called Autolitografie located in the MNW.
