Steinsberg began studying painting at the private school of A. Grabowski in Kraków. Continuing his studies at the Munich Academy in the years 1883 to 1888 he enrolled in the drawing class of J.C. Herterich and sculpture class of L.Löfftz. After returning home, he made his debut in the 1888 in the Kraków TPSP, where in later years he often exhibited. Thus, in 1899 Raczyński purchased to the Rogalin gallery Elegy, which is an example of often undertaken by the artist subject of atmospheric, filled with symbolic content landscape, and genre scenes.
